There's Something about Humans

This was originally going to be a blog post, but then I saw how long it was. So instead of it going on the front page, with all that text, I made a seperate page for it. Alright, here goes.

Hi peoples. You may not know me, and I probably don't know you. So lets start off with a primer. I'm a raw vegan. Simply put, I will not under any circumstances (other than pain of death) consume animal products. That's meat, fish, eggs, milk, cheese, and anything else. Theres even beginning to be some fine lines with me about leather, and a whole bunch of other things too. But for now, it's mostly about the food.

I've known for a long time, we humans have been destroying the world. Back in the 8th grade, I learnt about the Rain Forest in Brazil quickly being taken out. That enraged me. Making me want to move to action. That desire for action has never quelled. It's been in me, harbouring the dark secret about how perverted this world becomes. Many people know the truth about what actually goes on. They just choose to ignore it, pretend it doesn't matter. It's quite evident because they're still eating meat!

If modern civilized man had to kill the animals he eats, the number of vegetarians would rise astronomically. - C. Morgenstern

There, that's one good reason to become a vegetarian alone. Now don't start calling me a wuss because "OH GOOD HEAVENS THEY'RE JUST ANIMALS", or the load of bull they've thrown at me for years that they're not intelligent like we are, and they feel different sorts of pain, and that fish don't feel pain. All that is total crap. I was a meat eater for 18 years of my life. I loved eating meat. But I knew that the animal had to die for me to eat it. I'd seen a few videos of what they do. The horrible acts. Everyone I've talked about it to at the time didn't want to hear it. But... IT'S THE TRUTH. What did they want to hear? I didn't want to know that my hamburger suffered their entire life being tortured, hauled off in horrible conditions, and then painfully, and slowly killed. That's something NOONE wants to hear. But it's all cleverly hidden. The packaging, the government funded programs to promote meat and animal products, and all that out there, to deceive YOU.

I'm privy to alot of information that the average North American would just look at and brush off as just some conspiracy wacko, some pinky commie, some hippy, or all the other oddball groups they'd want to place me in because they've been so brainwashed by the government, the mass media, and the giant corporations that keep EVERYONE in their place by holding back the truth from them. I was really pissed earlier today. I got about 9 friend requests today on Myspace that made my blood boil, and then two band requests. I checked out both, both denied of course, but found a link, to another myspace profile, because this band was pro movement. They wanted to make a difference. Stop the War in Iraq, and other things. So this person has a link that simply said, if you want to be my friend, you have to watch this***(See the bottom for a link to the video). I had no intention of befriending her, but she had some pictures of horrible animal cruelty, and a few other videos on her profile about that, so I clicked. What came next was mindblowing. I've known about most of these things with varying detail, but this video exposed it all. It went over the 5 exploits of animals that humans perpetrate on them. The 5 exploits are: Pets(Companionship), Food, Clothing, Entertainment and Science. I didn't even finish the first exploit (Pets), and I forced myself to stop watching it. First they talk about how great the animals are for being pets. THEN, they expose what happens to the unloved animals. Right where I forced myself to stop was euthanizing dogs. They dragged a dog and threw it into a garbage truck, and before my eyes, crushed it to death. Wow, aren't humans the best race on this planet? Don't you just want to rush out and hug those people that did that? Shake their hand? NOT ME. These animals share this planet. They try to explain it as to contain the population within a reasonable limit. The overpopulation is entirely the Humans fault. Scientific study has proven time and again that nature balances itself. The animals wouldn't breed beyond the capacity if it wasn't for the humans giving them reasons to. So after about an hour away from the video, I come back, start playing from where I left off, and shortly thereafter, it heads into the food section. I've been a Vegetarian since October 2005. I didn't become a vegan until about 3 weeks ago. Right around the same time I started moving towards 100% Raw. I'd been slowly going away from milk and eggs at the time. It's a process, not an overnight thing.

I've watched some PETA videos about agribusiness farm animal treatment years back, and I always held back tears then because of how much I hate pain. This time it wasn't possible. People tell me to not watch those videos. To not find out about these things, to NOT seek the truth. Let me tell you. They're telling me to stop living what I'm meant to do. I'm on this earth to always seek the truth, whatever the costs. This animals thing though, is only a small part of it. Back when I was a meat eater, people that asked about my views on slaughtering animals, I told them that I wanted my meat to die as painlessly as possible. And I've heard reassurances about that before too that they are indeed killed quickly. That they get this machine that shoots a metal bolt into their brain stem and they die instantly. Yeah, sure buddy. I'm sure they do that in EVERY single meat factory. That's a rarity. Most deaths are slipshod. They slice the neck and drain the animal out, and do all other forms of horrible things to them before they even die. How about before they're killed though? To me, it just wasn't about their deaths being painless, I wanted them to live a peaceful life, free of stress up until the point that they die. Well, that's a fairy tale. The animals live in tight farms, are branded, de-horned, de-beaked, crammed into tight living quarters (chickens are a prime example of this), beaten, malnourished, lack of veterinarian care, pumped up with hormones that are affecting us, the human race beyond belief, and the list just goes on and on. Some say that these things we see in the videos are isolated incidents. Fine. Prove it. I want you to show me video footage of farms. Just do spot checks. You can't do it. Bring back some footage that isn't made by the government about how great the farms are. Bring back reality. Don't think that I'm just being anti-government, or objective to everything because it's cool to be different. If the government brought back the truth about what actually goes on, then I'd be happy with that. But when you go out and find out that it's not real, then you get VERY angry. Then it happens again, and then again. It gets to the point where you don't trust mass media sources. You let them say what they want. You listen. Then you research.

So, the treatment of animals that become the food on our plate is detestable. But that's not a fully legitimate reason on its own to go vegetarian, and actually vegan. If the animal were killed properly and lived comfortably, I still wouldn't eat it anymore. The reason to be vegan and not just vegetarian, is because the egss, cheese and milk are totally useless to us. All that protein in the milk is rendered useless to us by us 'purifying' it. We pasteurize the milk to protect the public from diseases that may be present in the milk. The pasteurizing process kills all the enzymes in the milk. Hence the reason I'm a raw foodist. Cooking of any sort kills all the enzymes. No exceptions. The enzymes in the milk help the protein get digested by the young calf that should be drinking the milk, and not us, the only species on the planet to continue drinking milk once we've been weaned from our mothers. So, what happens when we eat cheese, and drink milk is that the protein forms curds, and balls up in our stomach and gastrointestinal tract. And we get very little nutrients from it. Not to mention that it's incredibly bad for your body to have these huge curds in your body that just sit there slowly moving along rotting inside you. Just like meat, takes forever for your body to digest. Makes you work overtime, and puts energy into digestion that could be spent in better places, like your immune system.

So, the questions arise like: 'What about Calcium?' This is where I laugh. Do you really think you were getting enough Calcium from dead milk? You were hardly getting any in that milk as it was, because you had to be able to absorb it. The calcium was trapped in those curds that bounce along your small intestine which is the part that absorbs nutrients through small fingerlike projections. Rather hard to let anything out of these curds now isn't it? Well, here's you answer. It's called Salba. Salba is a supergrain that in 100 grams of it, has the same amount of Calcium in almost 3 cups of milk. And with salba, I grind it up after soaking, and using a high speed 'blender' (Vitamix) the salba turns into milk. Initially, to me, it tasted a bit like soy milk. I just added a bit of Agave Nectar for some mellow sweetening, and it was a lot like real milk. There. THAT is your answer to the milk thing. 'Well, what about cheese?' Well, I'm sorry to hear about cheese really. I loved cheese. I'd eat lots of it. But then I found out you can make NUT CHEESE. When I heard that, it was 'No way', But then I tried some in a raw lasagna last month, and it blew my mind. It was so good. So, not only is your cheese question answered, I also answered a festering question that you've been harbouring. 'But if it's raw vegan food, that sort of cuts out my food options. I don't want to live off of carrot sticks. That's boring' or something to the effect of that. Well, let me tell you. Raw Vegan Gourmet food is absolutely amazing, looks, smells and tastes 100 times better than cooked. You won't believe me now. Even if I were to have a dish of cooked food versus the raw food vegan plate, you'd immediately go for the cooked despite knowing that the raw vegan is better for you. That's because the human olfactory nerve has become to accustomed to the smell of cooked food that their brain literally goes crazy for that. The raw food hasn't had it's chance on your olfactory nerve yet, and as such can turn some people off at the start because of how different it is to them.

I could go on and on about all this, and about how fabulous I feel about being a vegan, about how happy I am, and how amazing it is to be on this earth, taking it all in, and knowing the correct balance on it all. There are spectrums that one must be aware of. Being a raw vegan isn't good enough. You have to know how to do it within balance, and the reason WHY it's better. The spectrum most are in is the meat eater area. Where they scoff at the thought of not eating meat, and not cooking food. Let me say this. You don't know ANYTHING. You're just an ignorant person when it comes to this. All your myths can be shattered. All those vitamin worries, all those nutrient issues, ALL of it. You're ignorant about the real issues. I don't blame you. I was ignorant. But I decided that I was sick of not knowing the truth. The truth about this all, is that what we eat, governs how we act, how we think, how we run our and other peoples lives, and many more aspects of life. And the funny yet sad thing is, You can tell a person to exercise, you can tell them to take this magic pill, to buy this machine that exercises them while they read a book, all these things that claim to have a positive aspect on your life (exercise does, but that's not the issue), yet if I were to tell you to become a raw vegan, you'd freak out. Who am I to tell you, Mr. Average Joe American that you shouldn't eat meat, and that you shouldn't drink milk, eat eggs and cheese, nor cook your food? It's your right to do whatever the hell you want with your body, and guess what? You do. Let me get this straight with you, the reader right now. I'm not forcing you to believe me. I'm simply putting the truth up. It is up to you to see that this is the truth, and act upon it, or do nothing, and become another statistic. Heart disease and Cancer are the two biggest killers in North America today. Go to any doctor today, and they'll tell you, that there is nothing you can do to cure either on your own. I've heard it. They make you need them. They need you to need them. Because with their lies, they are able to keep you thinking that you're going to get better, and get you coming back. They may not do this knowingly, and have only the best of intentions, but they can't help it. It's what they were taught in the medical schools. How many times have we heard from naturopaths that you can cure cancer or any disease by changing our diets? Is there anything to it? I say there is. I've seen evidence to prove that theory. It's evident throughout life, even in the smallest of forms. But it's up to you to see if this sparks anything in you, the reader. My words have life in them. But the life is only there if there's a place in you, to accept this life, and act upon it.

I hope this has kept you captivated as you read this, because I've poured my all into this. I firmly stand for this. I'll be updating the site shortly, to show you what I'm going to be doing with my life. Some before and after pictures. A biography of my life up until this point, and my health. This is my key to invincibility like nothing else. It would be wise to pay some heed to this, as uncomfortable as it may be.

***The Movie that will change the way we see humankind

It's 1:30 hours long. But I'm telling you, it will change you. The gore is there. In stark reality. These people don't shield their eyes, nor avert them while slaughtering without thinking. Why should you? By being apathetic to this, you support them. Just watch it. It's the least you could do.
